The Modesto police department has been making positive strides lately. Did you know that Modesto police is one of the pioneering California organizations to implement “Carter Kits”? Carter Kits are specialized bags that contain sensory items aimed at providing comfort and facilitating communication between individuals with autism and first responders. Carter Kits is a game-changer
As you probably already heard, there’s been an increasing shift toward mental health awareness and acceptance in today’s society. This is opposed to the long-standing taboo surrounding mental health, where if a person showed symptoms of mental health issues, they were often stigmatized or dismissed as “just being different.”
It’s even great that individuals with neurodiverse brains, such as those with autism, are now being recognized and accommodated for their unique challenges in social interaction, repetitive behaviors, speech patterns, and nonverbal communication.
Manteca Police Department
That being said, there are good communities out there that come together to foster a better understanding and support system for these individuals. One example is the Manteca PD’s fair, which serves as an important bridge for resources, education, and building a sense of inclusivity within the community for Individuals diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
According to the recent announcement from Manteca PD, they will be hosting their annual Autism Resource Fair & Fall Festival on November 23, 2024 and extending a warm welcoming invitation to the entire community to join in on this educational and engaging event.
Venue and Time
For those enquiring about the venue and precise time, it will be held at Northgate Park located on 1750 Hoyt Lane and will run from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. You can expect a diverse range of vendors from the local area, offering not only nourishment for the mind with valuable resources and information about ASD but also satisfying your palate with delicious food options.
Manteca Police Department’s active participation in this event is a testament to their dedication and commitment in not only enforcing the law, but also building strong relationships with and empowering the communities under their protection. A similar inclusive initiative here in Sacramento was the move by Modesto Police Department to introduce a new tool that caters specifically to individuals on the autism spectrum during emergencies. The Modesto Police Department recognizes the added stress for families with children who have sensory issues during emergency situations and has taken proactive measures to provide them with necessary tools, such as sensory kits, to help them stay calm and feel supported.
It’s another move that showcases the genuine care and support from the Law Enforcement towards those they serve. We at sacramento ABA would like to acknowledge and commend the efforts of both Manteca and Modesto Police Departments for their dedication towards building stronger and more inclusive communities.
