The findings revealed that Colorado, Wisconsin, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Connecticut, Maryland, New York, Pennsylvania, and Rhode Island were the most supportive states. These states scored highly across all categories, demonstrating a robust framework of resources and services to support individuals with Autism and their families.
Colorado, for example, has the best Insurance coverage, ranking 4th. The state boasts 5 specialist schools and 17 ABA therapy providers. Additionally, there are 2 sensory gyms available. New Jersey, which also offers noteworthy services, ranks 7th in insurance coverage and has 81 specialist schools.
Furthermore, New Jersey provides 16 ABA therapy providers and 3 sensory gyms for autistic children. Maryland on the other hand, stands out by offering comprehensive support. Insurance coverage in Maryland ranks 6th. The state features 11 specialist schools, providing a wealth of educational resources.

When comparing states like Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, Wisconsin, and Montana, it’s clear each offers varying levels of support and resources for those in need. Massachusetts and Connecticut provide considerable access to specialist schools and ABA therapy providers, ranking among the top states for insurance coverage.
New York boasts the highest number of specialist schools and sensory gyms, demonstrating significant support infrastructure. Meanwhile, though lower in rankings, Wisconsin and Montana still offer essential services but in fewer numbers.
Least supportive states, according to the report
According to the report, New Mexico, West Virginia, and Nevada were the least supportive states, ranking 50th, 49th, and 43rd in insurance coverage, respectively. They have fewer than five ABA therapy providers, and New Mexico and West Virginia do not offer sensory gyms.
Contrastingly, Nebraska, Maine, and Mississippi still came out in the least supportive category but with better insurance coverage and more specialist schools. Kentucky and South Carolina, despite slightly better rankings, still have fewer than ten specialist schools and limited ABA therapy providers. Tennessee ranks 45th but offers a more positive outlook with ten specialist schools and one sensory gym.
