Patient Rights

Patient’s Rights

Patients are entitled to receive appropriate and empathetic care while receiving services. No individual should be denied adequate and compassionate treatment based on their age, gender, race, marital status, ancestry, financial plan, disability or nationality. Every person has the innate right to receive care and treatment that respects their cultural, religious, and emotional beliefs, which can impact their perception of their illness.

Staff Identification:

It is imperative to inform patients about the individuals who will be providing care for them, including their names and professional qualifications. Every member of staff should formally introduce themselves and clarify their role in administering medical care.

Safety:

Patients have the right to expect adequate safety during medical treatments and procedures, as well as security in their surroundings.

Refusal of Treatments by Patients:

Patients have the autonomy to refuse medical treatment within the boundaries of established laws. Prior to making a decision, patients must be fully informed of the potential health impacts that may result from their refusal. Any consequences arising from a patient’s rejection of treatment or care are their responsibility. In cases where a patient’s decision to decline medical service makes it impossible for healthcare professionals to adhere to ethical and professional standards, it may be necessary to terminate the treatment relationship with proper notification.

Research and academic undertakings:

It is essential to inform patients about the possible risks and benefits associated with any research or educational activities suggested to them. This is their prerogative, and they reserve every right to decline participation without any negative implications on their personal healthcare plan. Refusal to take part in such pursuits will not affect their medical treatment in any way.

Service Enquiries: Patients have the right to have their requests addressed promptly and comprehensively, with sufficient information and access to necessary resources or referrals as needed.

Unrestrained Freedom:

Every person has the fundamental right to exercise their liberty, and this should not be curtailed unless a clear danger is present that could cause harm or injury to themselves or others. Whenever possible, the least restrictive measures must be taken when limiting personal freedom. Any restraints should be carried out in compliance with established laws and regulations.

Ensuring Confidentiality:

Patients can be confident that their discussions and medical records will remain protected, with disclosure only permitted with their consent or the approval of a designated legal representative.

Maintaining Privacy:

Clients can expect there to be complete privacy in regards to their treatment and care.

Expressing Dissatisfaction:

Patients and their associated individuals have the right to voice their dissatisfaction with any aspect of the services provided by Sacramento ABA Therapy.

Continuity of Care:

Patients are entitled to receive uninterrupted provision of care, effective discharge planning, and clear instructions for post-treatment follow-up. They should also be made aware of their long-term healthcare needs and offered solutions to address them. In addition, they must actively participate in the discharge planning process.

Informational Compensation:

It is important for patients to be aware that they have the right to seek clarification regarding their payment reimbursement, regardless of where it originated from.

Voluntariness:

It is imperative that individuals have the autonomy to voluntarily provide consent before undergoing any medical procedures. They should also possess adequate mental capacity to comprehend the details of the situation or have a legally authorized representative who can give consent on their behalf.

Other Privileges:

  • Pateints or patient’s family should be informed well in advance about the ending of insurance coverage or when alternate parties stop payment for treatment costs. To the maximum extent possible, prior notification will be given. Patients and their families (if applicable) must be kept updated on the results of treatments, including any unforseen outcomes.
  • Patients are required to comply with the regulations and guidelines set by medical institutions in written form.
  • Moreover, it is crucial for individuals seeking medical treatment to provide thorough and clear explanations about their health conditions upon request.
  • It is of utmost importance that individuals also share any misunderstandings or inquiries they may have regarding the proposed plan of action with their healthcare provider.
  • In cases of any changes in one’s health and unforeseen situations, it is imperative to promptly inform the relevant medical staff.

Furthermore, in case the expenses for healthcare cannot be covered, it is solely the responsibility of the patient and their family to notify the facility about this matter so that alternate options can be considered.
